Its been a year since I had to let my precious Job go. I have had a few dogs in my life and yes it always broke my heart when they passed. But Job was a very special one. Job came from an abusive past. His abuse was so severe he was blinded in one eye from getting beaten. If he was not siezed by the original owners by the police I would have not have had the privlege of having him in my life. Despite his past abuse. Job was a very friendly, happy go lucky dog. It was like he knew he was given a second chance and wanted to enjoy every moment. I do pray I gave him the love and securety he rightfully deserved. I know that he was loved and is missed very much.. This going to be a very long day

your Job is gorgeous - what a beautiful boy :paw: - you can see how much character was contained in that furry angel suit!
the rescue stories are my favorite, somehow these dogs are even lovlier than "regular" dogs..and to my eye, there is nothing lovlier than a dog

there is no doubt, from his expression and your post that you gave him everything he deserved and more; every dog should be so lucky

you canceled out the abuse he suffered at the hands of another by the love you gave him - and for that, I thank you

happy memories of your boy!

p.s. did you name him Job after the Job in the bible? is he an english cocker spaniel?

Thank you for your kind words. Job was a Chubby American Cocker Spaniel. When he was rescued he weighed 16lbs. Yes I did name him Job from the bible. It was a very fitting name for him. I figure I will share a link that shows Job's "15 minutes of fame". (2009 calender cover for Dogs deserve better)

:paw: oh, yes, this little one did have his trials, didn't he? thank you for sharing that link - Job was a superstar!

(I thought he was an english, cause he doesn't have that smaller, squarish nose typical in the american, very handsome)

Thank you for the compliment I wouldn't have been suprised if he had some English in him. He sure was a superstar and a walking miracle. To have suffered such severe abuse and not suffer any emotional damage is incredible. The people that didn't know his past would never be able to notice. He was very friendly and outgoing.
The toughest sadest thing I have ever done in my life was taking him to the vet to have him put to sleep. But to have been selfish and allow him to suffer from renal failure would have been much worse. I figure I would share a picture of him right when he was rescued to show the severity of the abuse. The picture is not pretty and is sad. But he survived this horror and thrived to become a beautiful loving creature.

oh my word, heartbreaking (he's still gorgeous though!)

only those with eyes to see would recognize him, to see him in his misery and KNOW he's the dog for them - you're a hero, so's job!) I am just so happy for you both that you found one another - this fairy dog mother LOVES this story :paw:

and I hope that in your sadness today that you were able to celebrate the magic that brought you two together and all the happiness you brought each other

I had to make the same hard decision for my nori and milo; its so incredibly hard but what we need to do sometimes - its been three and a half and five years respectively since they've gone, at sixteen and fourteen

they were happy rescues too!

I have a seventy five pound setter napping next to me, when he was picked up by the shelter six years ago, it was estimated he'd been wandering for a few weeks, he weighed about fifty pounds, was infested with fleas and worms, he was confused and scared, and acted accordingly...I never saw him at his worst, he'd been in foster care for two months before he found his way to me, I love him with all my heart, he's my best friend and the current clown prince

thank you for sharing job's story, I'm pretty sure there's a special place in dog heaven for the rescues!

and I think there is a special place reserved in hell for those who can visit such horror on a dog  but more than vengence, I'd wish them a change of heart, and empathy, so that no more dogs need to suffer like sweet job did

I also truly believe that there is a special place in heaven for rescues like Job. And yes I have alot of fond memories. And those I keep forever. I to consider myself very lucky to have adopted Job. He I presently have another Cocker. He also has an abused past. And he does show the scars. But all he needs is love and patience. He will be ok. Thank you for listening

:paw:

it is my privledge to listen to job's story, and to be able to say thank you to someone who cares about the everydog like I do

:paw:

I love the way you describe him, so outgoing and friendly despite what was, further proof to the theory that "dogs live in the now" his great spirit allowed him to overcome - job lived with you, and he was happy - it shows in his expression :D

its good that you have another four legged there with you, they have a tendency to take the hard edge off, if you know what I mean - my boy dog really DID help us when we had to say goodbye to the amazing bear, his prescence alone gave us comfort and though my heart was broken, I had the boy dog in front of me who needed and deserved my attention - as she did when we said goodbye to milo before her

you know he's still with you somehow, love like that doesn't just go away...

My first dog Barley gave so much. That I felt I had to give back. Then came my rescues Dillion, Job and now Joey They all gave and I have to keep giving back. I always feel like I am behind on the giving. I like it that way

What a wonderful, loving person you are...

YOU are a rescuer and rescuers are my favourite kind of people, when you look beyond the scars of the abused and see their beauty and their spirit that you can restore, then you see purity and truly know love....

From my heart to yours, I hold you in my thoughts and prayers!

Kerry
