I hope that this doesnt sound mean but I have a neighbor who had this sweet dog and he was old and she didnt want the dog she told the pound to put him to sleep.
She yelled at him all the time to me she was cruel to him. Then it wasnt 3 weeks later and she got another dog and she is mean to it..... yelling at her telling her she was going to take her to the pound my heart breaks for this little dog. This little dog is funny and she cracks me up.......

Glenda,

This woman has no right to have a pet in my opinion.

She appears to have some kind of power trip and uses the dogs to try to make herself powerful....

People who get themselves animals so that they can abuse and maltreat them have behavioural issues, if she is constantly horrible, then I suggest that you keep a writen record of what she does, and so you can estimate if the abuse escalates.... if it does, then you may wish to contact th Humane Society and ask them for advise on how this woman can be educated so that her ignorance can not be used as a defence.

If she has her behaviour called into question by authorities, and then she knows that she is being monitored by those authorities, then perhaps she will modify her behavior and even perhaps start to enjoy the company of her pet....

I have had several neighbours that I have befriended just so that I can work with them on their attitudes to strays in the area and their own pets...

Once I had given them some time to tell me about themselves, I would ask them about their pets, get their story adn try to find a way to complimnt them on the pet and something about it and it's behaviour.... I would then tell them how this was a good reflection of themselves.... once they started to see the animal as an extention of themselves as owners, they actually started to improve in their treatment of them... I got one very obese puppy off macaroni and cheese diet, and onto a good quality dry food... Billy (the dog) , lost weight, his dry flaky skin stopped and his coat improved, he was happier and healthier and so was his human friend.... he thought Billy was old, and had no energy ad was a bit bored by him.... once his diet improved, Billy was more energetic and now they go for walks and have more fun together... Billy's owner understood that it was the poor diet that caused a lot of the problems... he had never made the connection before we spoke..... What did I find good to say about Billy to his 'master'?

"Billy is such a sweet boy, beatiful face and he just looks at you with love... you can see it in his eyes that he idolizes you....."
"When you have such a sweet dog, he must be a good conversation starter when you go for walks.... aren't dogs brilliant at breaking the ice with strangers?"
"He looks a little bit bloated though.... what do you feed him?"

Turns out that his owner was feeding himself the same rubbish everyday, they never went for walks and both felt bloated... Billy's dad used to go from work to home, with not much of a social life... he felt isolated and a bit disconnected... Billy was so bored that he used to run away (to me when I was working on the TNR program with the stray cats in the street and would come and disturb us all and try to eat the food for the strays - so h was quite exhausting to me - his dad would yell at him a lot - mostly to come home in a gruff angry voice - adn wondered why Billy didn't wnat to come home - he had no idea about his tone and how it repelled Billy instead of entreating him hom........) Lots of the reasons a dog gets yelled at is because the human doesn't challenge and drain the dogs energy with any activities and so the poor dog tries to entertain themselves.......

As for Billy's Dad, I was the first person to speak to him in the street in months - and it was about Billy..... he was a bit grumpy and non-communicative at first but then started to come out of his shell.....

Sometimes you have to work on the human, to help the animal... I have found this to be quite helpful in the long run for them all....

Having had to talk to virtually the entire street about my TNR program, and get them on board with my trying to make a change - people often come to me when they ned advise or help with a pet...

Actually - I have also started a Pet Sitting/Minding service recently, I am conducting training classes for Potential Pet Owners (Selectig an appropriate pet - less bad decisions, means less surrenders and welfare cases) -Also animal environmental risk reduction, animal fist aid and the such like for our pet sitting contractors and pet owning customers alike!

Anyway - education and support - with the aid of appropriate authorities is what has mad a difference in our neighbourhood......

Good luck with it!

Kerry

Thanks Zoo,

I am absolutely committed to making this world a better place for animals.... and you know what?

When society treats animals better... it tends to treat the humans better too...

Whn you abuse or ignore animals, it is a slippery slope as the human disadvantaged get regarded as less than human, and then they too are treated with disregard ad lack of humanity....

We all learn early what the value of life can be... if it is valued in animals, then it it also, be definition - valuable in human terms too....

Compassion begets compassion, care is what makes this world a better place.... I start in my corner and I kow you have started in yours.... and if everyone works in their own neighbourhood, thn the whole world ends up getting cleaned up doesn't it?

Hugs to you too Zoo - and also I know you do so much too!!

Kerry

good on you!

Sometimes people just need to know that they are going to be held responsible and accountable and that they are being watched and assessed!

Lets all be caretakers of all th animals that come within our influence!

All the best,

Kerry

Dogs are like humans too. They need to be loved and taken care of. Yells are not needed to train your pets. The woman has no right in owning a pet for my opinion too. She is rude actually.
