New CBS series has actor kick a cat.

Dear friends,

Boy, I really hope that I am missing something or not understanding what I have read but the following two paragraphs are from this months TV guide magazine page 39 and 40 and it makes me furious not to mention sick. I just hope and pray it’s not true and I am missing something.

The series is named “Smith” on CBS and will air the evening of the 19th.

Page 39, second paragraph.
That’s the setup for this serialized drama from ER and West Wing executive producer John Wells. Ray Liotta and Virginia Madson head a high-octane cast that includes Amy Smart, Simon Baker, Johnny lee Miller, Franky G and Shohreh Aghdashloo Most of them playing folks who steal things, shoot people and even kick the cat (yes literally).

Page 40, forth paragraph.
For the bad, bad guy, you can turn to Baker, the 37-year-old Australian actor who after four seasons on the Guardian was ready to embrace the part of a quiet, whistling assassin who casually guns down people without a second thought. (Just to prove he’s a sociopath, he is also the one who kicks the cat.)

If this is true, CBS should not be allowed to get away with this outrage and I for one will do all I can to stop these!@#$%^s.

I am thinking that perhaps the Head of the Humane Society ought to make contact with the lawyers who represent CBS and remind them that as of 1940, there is a National law which bans animal cruelty on TV, movies, etc.

I too, am hoping that CBS is not really meaning to have an actor kick a cat--because if that is the intent, Katy bar the Door--CBS will be in big trouble and I will do everything I can to make sure all those part and parcel to this in CBS are brought to their knees.

I am quite sure that when they say he 'quite literally' kicks the cat, they mean that his on screen character is scripted to actually kick the cat in the show as a way to boost his bad guy image, not that he does it in real life. Just as any physical act against an animal is done on screen, I'm sure this to will be nothing more than a portrayal of the act, not an actual cat being kicked....CBS would never be that stupid this day and age, and animal rights activists would be in an uproar about it by now. With that being said, it doesn't really matter to me personally if it is acting or not, it is still disgusting to view the very thought of kicking a cat entertainment and for that alone I won't be watching this show! Thanks for sharing the info.!

I watched the premier of that new CBS series. About half way through an actor did indeed kick a cat off of a bed that he was lying on. He kicked it through a blanket and the cat did meow loudly.

This is just another attempt by our beloved entertainment industry to make a $ and attract degenerates that like to see animals abused.

I believe that Missmygirl is correct, this is nothing but a simple minded publicity stunt.
