Since I have become a Pet Grief Counselor at the SPCA, I do a lot of reading. I have found a book/journal that I think is so wonderful I had to share it with everyone. The name of the book/journal is "The Kingdom of Heart - A Pet Loss Journal", Patty Luckenbach, M.A., D.D., author. This is the most wonderful, understanding, well written work I have read regarding the loss of our pets.

The following is an excerpt from this journal:

"Dogs are aware of their connection to God. Unlike most humans, they have never forgotten or lost it. The angels, ascended maters, and even our own soulfulness know of the oneness with God and all other beings. We humans are desperately trying to remember these connections. Our precious animals live in the present moment and are attuned to their instinctual connection with life. They do not have the ego attachments, acquired beliefs that demonstrate as habit and conditional love, that humans have. Animals help us to connect to our spiritual intuition. So, above, so below, they know we live in a field of unity. They are aware of the organic connection to the greater weave and tapestry of life. The animals have not forgotten the kingdom of love for it is their intuition and instinctual birthright to be a part of the greater whole. All animals are connected to the center of the great circle of life just as we humans are connected to that greate circle. Our transformation or death process is also a birth process; the labor pains of birthing move us into a greater dimension of eternal life. Every life form has a window of departure into the greater dimensions. All animals have this window just as we humans do. I believe animals are of the Love-Intelligence known as God. Therefore, I believe each animal has a soul."

God Bless you all.

Your last line is

Therefore, I believe each animal has a soul."

This, I believe with all my heart and soul.

Peggy,

I also truely believe that animals have a soul. How else could they give us so much unconditional love and forgiveness. I just lost my best friend Wrangler about 3 weeks ago and the only thing keeping me from going crazy is the thought of him being in a safe, pain free place with God. I have to believe that one day I will see him again. The sorrow in my heart is so strong right now but when I feel that I can handle reading such a book I want to buy it. I am having a hard time dealing with his passing, that is how I found this site. I am trying to find some comfort and peace in all of this. I need to surround myself with people who understand and can help. My family members just say, It'll take time, It's normal and tell me I have to get over it, but that is not what I need to hear. I need to hear things like what you have posted, true feelings that will give me hope. He was my comfort zone and now he his gone, leaving me empty and alone inside. I can not smile yet but little things do give me a sence of hope, maybe I do need this book now! Thanks for sharing this, I do need all the help I can get. Patty

It sounds like a wonderful book and I'm going to read it. I've always found it very interesting the God spelled backwards is Dog. I'm not sure it's just a coincidence.

I have to read this book.

Since Jack died, so many things that were undone are being done. He died on the day of the aftershocks of an earthquake here in the midwest where I live. I said that God called him and the plates shifted in the earth: that it took an earthquake for him to leave. So when all the undone things started occuring right after he died, I thought he had left in order to go shift the world. Ive been saying when big things have changed: Oh. Dog must be on it.

I have to read this book.

I would go crazy with grief if I thought I couldn't see Clyde dog again, when I pass from this life.

Peggy!

Yes, animals have souls.

We too are animals....

But I must say, that some of our pets have purer and kinder souls than many of those who would suggest that animals do not...

The animals would not seek to bar others from paradise as they know that the joy, the true happiness of eternity would be nothing if we were not reunited with our beloved friends and family whether they are clothed in fur, feathers or other kinds of skin!

Thanks!

Kerry
