We lost our German Rottie this morning, Nicodemus. He was a wonderful dog-Ive never known one like him. He died from Parvo, his breeder had informed us he had had his booster but he got it anyway. Ive never had to put a dog down before and it is so hard, I dont know how to deal with it. Im so glad I found this board.

Dear Darcy,

I just read your post and am so sorry for your loss...you have come to a wonderful website filled with folks who have gone through and are going through such a wave of sadness and grief. Your beloved is whole and healthy again and awaits you at the Rainbow Bridge. He will always be in your heart, and you in his heart--I learned this though the illness and euthanasis of our beloved Somali Cat, Felix, who passed to the Brdige 6 1/2 months ago after suffering for a yr and then 3 final days in ICU of Triad Syndrome, an inflammation of the liver, gall bladder and pancreas. And yes, it rips a hole in our hearts. May you be bathed in the white light of love and healing and positive energy. You are in my thoughts and I will say a special prayer for you now.

Mary

sweet furbabies regardless of size. They are all so wonderful, and they know how to make us feel good no matter what.

Please come here often and know that all of us have been through the pain of losing a gift that we loved so very much.

This wonderful site has carried me through two dreadful losses less than 2.5 years apart.

I'm new here too, RottieMom. I just lost my youngest cat, Gibby, to what we believe is a tumour less than a week ago. I can relate to the pain you feel. I have realized, if you can remember your pet and it evokes any kind of feeling...sadness, pain, joy, calmness...they are still with you. Some people here, like myself, have found making a private shrine to your pet helps deal with some of the feelings. I believe it was Mary Quinn (?) who has an eternal light on her pets' shrine.
These people are the best, and support is a key click away. Come back often, we welcome you. (even if your face is puffy from crying and you forgot to change out of your jammies today. =)

Darcy:
We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved Nicodemus. He was very lucky to have been brought into your household, because he was able to learn about the meaning of unconditional love.

Yes, making the decision to help our beloved pets to cross over the Rainbow Bridge is THE most difficult decision we ever have to make during our life time. The one blessing, though, is that they are no longer suffering.

Feel free to write at any time you feel the need to talk with any one of us here at the site. We understand how you are feeling because we've been through this, too.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

In love and friendship,
Pat and Steve

Hi Shan and all,

Yes, it is I who has an eternal light shining over Felix's Memorial. We look at it as our eternal light and bond of unconditional and everlasting love.

I do think about each of you every day and Shan, you are right about puffy face and tears and jammies!

Mary

Darcy,

The love doesn't diminish, but the intense pain does over time - although there will be days of deep sorrow, may the joys of past memories replace the tears.

I still find myself crying over the loss of my sweet boy Sammy - who left on Dec 28th 2005. I still mourn my dearlings of over 30 years ago too.... but more often than not my memories bring me great warmth and gratitude for the love I have enjoyed from my furkids - one and all....

I wish you strength and healing,

Kerry
