After losing one of our elderly cats called Panther last August, I lost my beloved Sunshine onthe 8th April Easter Sunday, I have just come back from our local vet this morning after our last little boy Felix Kitten had to be put down after a very short illness. Completely devestated my husband and I reflected on his wonderful life which could for him have turned out so very different. In August 2000 my husband driving through a built up residential area noticed a small black kitten sitting in the middle of the road, fearing the cat might be injured or even killed he gently put him back to the side of the road where he thought he would be safe. Driving back the same way some hours later he noticed the same kitten back in the middle of the road, he stopped the car but before he could get out the cat had trotted over to him so he gently picked him up and brought him home. The little black cat with identical markings to the legendry "Felix" cat advertising cat food was no bigger than the palm of my hand and we put his age to be about 6 weeks or so, we christened him Felix Kitten, as he grew up this Tom Cat thrived but he only became the size of a cat at about one year and in the years to come loved his food so much he became as wide as he was long and woddled around. Always maintaining an air of independance he was a cat who always walked on his own, over fields, into the woods and associating with a population of farm cats - he hated to be inside unless it was raining and then we played the game of what the weather was like out of the different doors in our house and then gave us a look that said Mummy/Daddy please turn off the rain tap!!! so he could go outside and could never quite understand why that was in our power. However we do have the power now to be able aleviate is suffering, so while we both made a fuss of him today we opened the door for him to go outside for eternity, so now all three of my boys are together- it is just so hard on us that we have lost all our beloved cats within a year. Looking on the plus side I do have a 9 month old cat which we rescued who he settled, gaining weight and his so play so playful wakes us up at 5.00 a.m. to start the day!!!!.
