How do dogs left behind cope.

It is 20 days since I lost Carrie Flooze, and my other dog Taz is really stressed. He hardly eats now and keeps going to the front door and looking out of the windows and is very excited all of the time and whimpers alot now. He has started to tear his fur out. The Vet checked him for parasites but couldnt find evidence of any. Does anyone have any coping tips for me to try with him. We have increased his walks and have started to brush his head and ears with a soft baby's hairbrush. (Carrie used to pin him against the door and groom his head)
The dogs bed still has Carries scent and I am not sure if washing it will help or make him worse.
I don't want to lose him to a broken heart. By the way, he is approx 8yrs, a staffxbeagle and was also a rescue dog who had obviously had a rough time of it.
