Hey I'm Ashley, I recently lost a dear friend, Sarge, my German Shepard. You see he was a very big dog, and only 9. German Shepard’s averagely get to about 90lbs. but Sarge was a big 130, and as healthy as could be, but because he was such a big dog he stomach is what killed him, and it happened so fast. Since he was so big he stomach had twisted up. Not letting anything in or out. He stomach created a gas which eventually killed him. Here is the story. It was June 29, 2003 and I was taking sarge for a walk. He seemed as though nothing was wrong. But later that night I noticed that his stomach was extremely hard I was so scared. Sarge was not really moving. The next day we brought him to the vet the next day, and the vet told us that nothing could be done to save him. Even the night before was too late. It happened over night. So please if you have a big dog please talk to your vet about this. I don’t want anyone to go through what I did. So please talk with your vet to see what can be done to protect your best friend. (A.S.A.P.)
IT IS VERY HEARTBREAKING TO ME TO KNOW THERE IS NOTHING I COULD HAVE DONE. If you noticed that your dog’s stomach is unusually firm take him/her to the vet A.S.A.P. (if you would like to ask me any questions feel free to e-mail me at JAngel838@aol.com
