Not quite sure how to deal with this

I just found out that my cat of 12 years has an aggressive craniofacial tumor. I will need to make a decision over the next few weeks to put her down. How do you know when the right time is? How do you bring your pet there to have that done? I am just devastated and can't seem to stop crying. I am just so sad. I just can't believe that this is happening. I thought it was just an insect bite on her nose. Help!
